About

The Skin Cancer Prevention Working Group (SCPWG) is a multi-center collaboration of experts dedicated to the prevention of skin cancer. The SCPWG consists of clinical and research specialists that have spent years investigating and understanding the diagnosis and management of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer.

 

The mission of the SCPWG is to cultivate and analyze evidence-based research to better understand skin cancer pathophysiology, treatment, and prevention in order to be leaders in skin health education.

The SCPWG is supported by the Dermatology Science and Research Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) which is dedicated to the advancement of the field of dermatology through collaboration, lifelong education, and community outreach.

Darrell S. Rigel, MD

is a board certified dermatologist in New York City and Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine. Dr. Rigel completed his internship in internal medicine at Cornell University Medical Center and his dermatology residency training as well as a Dermatology Surgery Fellowship at NYU.

Aaron S. Farberg, MD

is a double-board certified dermatologist and micrographic dermatologic surgeon in Dallas, Texas. He is an Assistant Professor in the Section of Dermatology at Baylor Scott & White Health System. Dr. Farberg also trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Michigan prior to a clinical research fellowship in skin cancer through the National Society for Cutaneous Medicine.

Alex Glazer, MD

is a board certified dermatologist and medical director of Glazer Dermatology, Chicago, IL. Dr. Glazer completed his dermatology residency training at the University of Arizona. He completed an additional fellowship in skin cancer through the National Society for Cutaneous Medicine.

Graham H. Litchman, DO

 is a resident physician in the Department of Dermatology at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, Far Rockaway, NY. Prior to residency, Dr. Litchman completed a clinical research fellowship in skin cancer through the National Society for Cutaneous Medicine.

Nicholas Brownstone, MD

received a BA degree in Psychology from Cornell University and attended medical school at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson. He trained for over 3 years as a resident in plastic and reconstructive surgery before switching to a career in dermatology. Dr. Brownstone completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco Department of Dermatology in Psoriasis, Phototherapy and Clinical Research and is currently a fellow in melanoma and skin cancer at the National Society for Cutaneous Medicine in New York, NY. He will begin dermatology residency in July 2022 at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. 

Justin W. Marson, MD

is a physician in the Department of Dermatology, SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Marson earned his medical degree as part of the 7-year accelerated BA/MD program at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, completed his internal medicine internship at University of California, Irvine, and has completed an additional fellowship in skin cancer through the National Society for Cutaneous Medicine.

Ryan Svoboda, MD

is a resident physician in the Department of Dermatology, Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey, PA. Prior to residency, Dr. Svoboda completed multiple dermatology clinical research fellowships including a focus on skin cancer through the National Society for Cutaneous Medicine.

Richard R. Winkelmann, DO

is a board certified dermatologist and cutaneous oncology specialist in Los Angeles, California. Following undergraduate studies in jazz performance at Northwestern University, Dr. Winkelmann transitioned to medical school at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Winkelmann developed a passion for skin cancer during a year-long cutaneous oncology research fellowship with Dr. Darrell S. Rigel before completing dermatology residency at the OhioHealth Riverside Hospital. Dr. Winkelmann went on to finish another year-long fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery at the University of North Texas Health Sciences. Dr. Winkelmann's research and academic interests include photoprotection, the surgical management of skin cancer, and education for dermatologists. He currently practices Mohs surgery with the Skin and Cancer Institute and lives in Venice Beach, CA. 

is a preliminary-medicine resident physician at OhioHealth Riverside Hospital, Columbus, OH. Dr. Sharma earned his medical degree as part of the accelerated 6-year BS/MD program at Kent State University and Northeast Ohio Medical University. He will begin a clinical research fellowship in cutaneous oncology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE in July 2023.
